Discipleship for all---

Discipleship for all

We want to encourage all Christians to make disciples!

Discipleship is when a follower of Jesus Christ is taught by another Christian. Discipleship may look different according to the person discipling. Yet the impact of intentionally discipling another person is by far the greatest commission we have as Christians. "...go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

We intentionally limit the number of "Church Programs" that we offer in order to allow people in the fellowship to invest time in personal discipleship. Our desire is that each person in the fellowship be discipling at least two people at all times. Together we can fulfill the great commission and make a true and lasting impact in people's lives.

If you are new to your faith or have Questions about Christianity, we can help connect you with someone that will meet with you on a regular basis, help to answer the questions you may have and pray for you.

Some thoughts

on discipleship

There are no shortcuts to becoming or making disciples. Jesus spent time with his disciples on an almost daily basis for several years. It would be wrong of us to think that we could do a better job than Jesus, and reduce discipleship down to a weekly or monthly event.

  • Each person that has a relationship with Jesus should start discipling others as soon as possible after they come to faith in Jesus.
  • A person does not need to be a Christian in order to start discipling them. When Jesus called his disciples many if not all of them did not have faith in him as their Savior , this can be seen many times in the doubt that they displayed and the questions they had. Rather a person needs to be open to learn more about Christ and growing in faith.
  • People should disciple those that are a part of their home church or could become a part of the church at sometime.
  • Spend time on a regular basis going over the scripture they are reading.
  • Have the person you are discipling start with the New Testament.
  • Agree to meet until the person has read all the way through the portion of scripture. It is helpful to have them write the date by the chapter that they have read, as well as underline the verses that stand out to them, so that when you meet, they can ask questions as well as identify their progress in reading scripture.
  • Discipleship should not be a small group. In order to spend quality time with the people you are discipling, limit the number of disciples that you meet with at one time. We suggest no more than two.
  • Typically within the first six months of being discipled, the one being discipled should start to disciple someone else. While they continue to be discipled themselves.
